What to expect from the PADI Instructor Development Course
This PADI Instructor program in Bocas del Toro is structured to provide both flexibility and preparation.
Two Main Phases:
Online Theory Phase (8 days) – Dive theory, knowledge reviews, and evaluations done online before you arrive in Bocas del Toro.
Practical In-Person Phase (12 days) – Classroom workshops, confined water sessions, open water teaching, and rescue scenarios, all carried out in Bocas del Toro’s warm Caribbean waters.
The course includes:
✅ Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor Course.
✅ IDC Digital Crewpack (Guide to Teaching, eLearning, workbooks, lesson guides).
✅ Instructor slates and teaching materials.
✅ PADI backpack.
✅ EFR Instructor manuals and eLearning.
✅ Tanks, weights, ropes, and lift bags provided by the dive center.
✅ Instructor certifications in Peak Performance Buoyancy and Project AWARE.
✅ Optional equipment maintenance workshop.
What do you need to participate?
First, you need to be at least 18 years old to start the course. You must also be a certified PADI Divemaster (or hold an equivalent certification from a recognized agency) with 100+ logged dives, as well as an Open Water, Advanced and Rescue certifications.
You’ll also need an EFR or CPR/First Aid certification, but if you don’t have one yet, you can complete it during the IDC.

What to know before the course
When you arrive in Bocas del Toro, everything is easy. Our dive center is just 5 minutes away, and we have a partner hotel — Divers Paradise — where you can stay during your IDC and enjoy the island vibes.
Also, for this experience, it’s important that you bring your own personal dive gear, including mask, snorkel, fins, BCD, regulator, dive computer, DSMB, compass, and anything else you need for the best diving experience.
