Where is Bocas Del Toro?

Bocas Del Toro is a Province in Panama in Central America. Located in the North West on the edge of the Caribbean Sea, it is comprised of the mainland and nine main islands. Bocas Dive Center is located in Bocas Town on Isla Colon. Isla Colon is the northernmost and main island in the Bocas Del Toro Archipelago. The island boasts beautiful beaches, jungles, hotels, restaurants, night clubs and residential districts. As an island it has a strong boating community and water taxis are a common mode of transport, however, yellow taxis, busses and bicycles are also commonly utilized. Well known globally for its incredible surfing and cruising community, it is a “Diver’s Paradise” with a range of dive sites to suit all levels of experience.

 

Colon Island offers a tropical wet climate. Temperatures remain constant throughout the year, averaging around 26°C (79°F). The water temperature ranges from 27°C (80°F) up to 30°C (86°F). The rainy season runs from September to November, when even then there is more than 100 hours of sunshine every month.

 

The island offers a wide range of activities from surfing, snorkeling and diving, to water tours, land tours and hiking. Its wilderness offers nature lovers an opportunity for spotting indigenous wildlife such as sloth, dolphin and toucans, as well as a diverse range of lizards, flowers and fauna.

 

Although the national currency is the Balboa, most locations will also use US Dollars and don’t be surprised if you get your change in both currencies. The exchange rate is 1 to 1. The power is 110 Volts and the plugs are 2 flat prongs as in the US.
